You cannot stay in power by going against 70 percent of the people: Mamunul Haque

Maulana Mamunul Haque, Ameer of Bangladesh Khelafat Majlish, warned on Saturday, April 4, 2026, that no government can remain in power by opposing the will of 70% of the population.

Speaking as the chief guest at an 11-party alliance rally in front of Baitul Mukarram, he asserted that the people of post-July Revolution Bangladesh will not tolerate politics that ignores public mandates or constitutional reforms based on referendum results. Haque sharply criticized the BNP, accusing them of "hypocrisy" and "opportunism" for allegedly backtracking on pre-election promises regarding public accountability while favoring ordinances that consolidate power. Presided over by Jamaat-e-Islami Nayeb-e-Ameer A.T.M. Azharul Islam, the rally concluded with a protest march through the capital, reaffirming the alliance's commitment to resisting any political "betrayal" on the streets.
