Tribunal rejects Z I Khan Panna’s plea to defend Sheikh Hasina
Lawyer Z I Khan Panna has applied to represent ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who fled to India amid the student uprising on August 5 last year, in the International Crimes Tribunal.
He submitted the application on Tuesday. However, the tribunal did not accept his request.
The tribunal said that at this moment, no application can be accepted.
The state has already appointed a public prosecutor to represent Sheikh Hasina. At this stage of the case, there is no opportunity to appoint a new lawyer for the fugitive accused.
Z I Khan Panna’s application was filed in court by Major General (Retd.) Ziaul Ahsan along with lawyer Naznin Nahar.
