"Political democracy is incomplete without economic democracy: Finance Minister"

Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury emphasized the concept of "Economic Democratization" during the launch of the second phase of the 'RAISE' project on Sunday, May 10, 2026.

He asserted that true democracy requires political freedom as well as equal economic participation for all citizens. Expressing concern over the high cost of healthcare—which he termed "shameful"—the Minister promised increased allocations for health and education in the upcoming budget.

He also highlighted the untapped potential of Bangladesh's handicrafts, music, theater, and sports industries, urging for better design, global marketing, and digital integration.

Additionally, he noted that initiatives like the Family Card and Farmer Card would boost rural financial flow and empower the grassroots economy.
