Opposition Leader and Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman expressed profound grief over the deaths of five people, including three women, in a devastating fire at a gas lighter factory in Keraniganj's Kadamtali on Saturday, April 4, 2026.

In a condolence statement, he attributed the recurring nature of such tragedies to the proliferation of illegal and high-risk factories, blaming the irresponsibility and lack of oversight by relevant authorities.

While praying for the departed souls and demanding immediate compensation for the victims' families, Dr. Rahman urged the government to conduct a thorough investigation and take stern legal action against those responsible.

He also emphasized the urgent need to shut down unauthorized units and strictly enforce safety protocols across all industrial sectors to prevent future disasters.
